First appt with Dr. Karas December 2025. Hip pain worsening. Xray showed arthritis. Sent me for steroid injection with his PA. Didn't work at all. His PA didn't have anything else to offer. My PCP ordered MRI of hip, showed more damage including torn labrum. Saw another ortho in the practice. He said he would not repair labrum without a joint replacement. Saw that other ortho 3 weeks ago. He made sure I got in to see Dr. Karas. He obviously didn't know about the fee. Fast forward to today. More x-rays. Saw his PA first. Nothing was mentioned about my previous tests. She just pulled up the x-ray from today. Her main concern was My "Concierge" fee of $6500 to be paid to Dr. Karas before surgery. Non refundable of course. Dr. Karas came in and jokingly asked if we had met before.....and told me I needed a hip replacement for $6500. And then asked me when I was going on vacation. His surgery scheduler bounced in and told me what I would have to do prior to surgery including the $6500 "concierge" fee. No one said a word about managing my pain for the next 3 months even though I told him I haven't slept in months and the pain is so agonizing I can hardly function. He never compared his first x-ray to today's. His girls told me that his First available surgery date is 1/11/2027. These people clearly do not care about the patient. Just the money. Too bad, he was highly recommended. If the previous Dr. had informed me about this change in fees, I wouldn't have wasted 3 more weeks for this appointment. Now, maybe this only applies to Medicare patients.....if I had private insurance I wonder if this "fee" would have applied. So I can hardly walk. And have to start over.
My reccomendation to anyone is to find out if this Concierge Fee applies to everyone. Ask when making the appointment. Not only will you have to wait for weeks for an appointment, if you know beforehand you can decide to keep the appointment or find a surgeon that takes your insurance.
REMEMBER THIS "FEE" IS NON REFUNDABLE.......*

Doctor Karas and Madison listen to your questions and answer them to your understanding. Very professional. They spend time with you, not rushing through your appointment. The entire staff is friendly and courteous. There are a number of patients from my area, 2 hours away, that are all satisfied and share the same opinion. I would highly recommend them.*

The Doctor showed me much concern about me issue. The Doctor could see that I was a person that was going through lots of pain. The most of all the Doctor saw that I was having pain not only in my knees but another part of my body and showed compassion and concern and inquired why I was crying and what was causing me pain in my Arm. He sent for that specialist to come see what was happening to me..*

I’m about to have a 2nd Hip Replacement within a year. This team is so fabulous. Each person, from Deaana Massarani,PA to Alexis James RN and everyone else who will quickly respond with care and concern regarding any questions.. no matter how many you may ask.
Be sure to sign up for the post op text service. It’s amazing, it will often address issues you were thinking to contact the office about. Very very comforting!

I can’t say enough great things about Dr Karas very considerate and kind awesome bed side manners as well!! Had my first TRKR August 24th, my pain has been very minimal hardly use a cane only when around a crowd so nobody bumps into me, never a brace and I’m so looking forward to having my TLKR Oct 13th!!
So if your on the fence where to go Dr Karas is your Dr, he’s the BEST!!!!*

Do to a change of policy and being booked until 2027, Dr Karas recommended an orthopedic doctor who could handel my case in a timely fashion.
He also brought this doctor into the exame room so I could meet him and explain the procedure.*

Excellent exam experience by Dr. Karas and his staff. I came 1/2 hour early for my appointment but was taken immediately for x-ray then exam. Dr. Karas explained the swelling in my right knee - from a fall - and reassured me there was no damage to the replacement; suggested how to treat it and I left very relieved and satisfied with the experience.*

Dr Karas and his entire team have been incredible from start to finish. I have just completed my 3 week post op visit for my full hip replacement on my right side and can report no pain and very limited swelling! I am so grateful for everything that everybody has done in regard to my surgery. A Great Team, an Amazing surgeon and an Excellent outcome.

Dr Karas and his team are outstanding. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this doctor and surgeon. Truly unsurpassed in every way—patient, caring, compassionate, and attentive.
